Meera Chakravorty, M.A. Ph.D., professor, Research Faculty, Department of Cultural Studies, Jain Unviersity, Bangalore. Teaches in the Department of Cultural Studies. Bengali Novels that won Sahitya Akademi Awards like Nishikutumba of Manoj Basu, and Rajnagar of Amiyabhushan Majumdar were translated in Kannada by her. Also a collection of poems of Jibanananda Das. All these were published by the Sahitya Akademi. Also, Shaonli Mitra’s Nathavati Anathavat translated in Kannada is published by Katha, Delhi. Her special field of interest is Consciousness Studies and the forthcoming book is based on the same topic, Covering the other areas of philosophy her research paper on ‘Enquiry into Time was awarded by the John Templeton Foundation, USA. Her involvement in Women’s struggle since 1975 has been recorded in many journals. She edited a volume on Women in Nation Building, published by Southern Economist. Her other publications are on Tantra and Existentialism and her Bangali poems Shuddha Nishder Abcha Rangey was published by Kobita Pakshik, Kolkata.
